HC Deb 22 January 1941 vol 368 cc164-5
38. Mr. David Adams

asked the Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he will obtain information showing how the figure of £854,880, being the sum expended by gold mining companies on welfare work, less that spent on statutory obligations such as housing, etc., in the return recently furnished by the Governor of the Gold Coast, is made up, in order that expenditure upon voluntary welfare work may be known?

Mr. George Hall

Inquiry is being made of the Governor of the Gold Coast, and I will communicate with my hon. Friend when the Governor's reply is received.
