HC Deb 27 February 1941 vol 369 c634
64. Mr. C. Williams

asked the President of the Board of Trade when he proposes to lay before this House Accounts relating to trade of the United Kingdom during each month of the year?

The Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Trade (Captain Waterhouse)

It has been decided that it would be contrary to the national interest to continue to publish the Monthly Trade Accounts, because even the limited information published since the outbreak of war is of potential value to the enemy. Accordingly, my right hon. Friend does not propose to lay these Accounts before this House in future.
