HC Deb 27 February 1941 vol 369 c628
51. Mrs. Tate

asked the Minister of Agriculture what percentage decrease in the milk yield he anticipates from April to October, 1941, as compared with April to October, 1940?

Mr. Hudson

I do not anticipate that the yield of milk this summer will fall appreciably below that of last summer provided weather and other conditions are not abnormal.

Mrs. Tate

Is my right hon. Friend aware that if the clock is put forward two hours this summer, the cows will have to be milked at two hours by the sun, in the heat of the day, when the milk yield is not as abundant or as high in quality, and when it does not possess the keeping qualities of milk produced later in the day?

Mr. Hudson

That may or may not be so, but it does not arise out of the Question on the Paper.
