HC Deb 19 February 1941 vol 369 c147
37. Mr. Price

asked the Prime Minister whether he will afford Parliamentary time for the discussion of the Motion on the Order Paper in the name of the hon. Member for the Forest of Dean concerning Defence (General) Regulations, 1939 (Privilege), and the rights of this House to have information through a Committee of Privilege about the causes for the detention of a Member?

[That this House do consider necessary an amendment to Regulation 18B of Defence (General) Regulation, 1939, and that for the future, if any member be arrested and detained under this Regulation, the Minister of Home Security do furnish to a Committee of Privilege set up by this House evidence, if necessary in secret, that the said member has been guilty of acts which debar him from the protection of privilege.]

Mr. Attlee

I regret that the present state of public business affords no opportunity for discussion of the Motion standing in the name of my hon. Friend.

Mr. Price

Would the Lord Privy Seal have any objection if the matter was raised on the Adjournment?

Mr, Attlee

I doubt whether this is a suitable subject to be debated on the Adjournment Perhaps my hon. Friend will have a word with me.
