HC Deb 13 February 1941 vol 368 c1525
59. Mr. Higgs

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether expert advice shows that newly-ploughed turf land can have a one year's lay clover crop at the same time as a cereal crop?

Mr. Hudson

The cropping practice on newly-broken turf must be determined by local considerations, and I would prefer not to suggest advice, which would necessarily be construed as generally applicable.

Mr. Higgs

In regard to the sowing of catch crops, is my right hon. Friend aware that agricultural committees are not in a position to give a definite ruling whether the crops can or cannot be sown?

Mr. Hudson

If my hon. Friend will let me have details I will go into the matter.
