HC Deb 06 February 1941 vol 368 cc1070-1
23. Sir W. Smithers

asked the Home Secretary whether he will now take steps to suppress all Communist activities which are subversive of this country's war effort?

Mr. H. Morrison

As indicated in my statement on 22nd January, while it is the policy of the Government to make the minimum use of methods of repressing expressions of minority opinions, they fully recognise that appropriate action must be taken against any persons, whatever their political creed, who place impediments in the way of our war effort and thus help the enemy.
