HC Deb 06 February 1941 vol 368 c1082
74. Mr. Thorne

asked the Attorney-General when the committee inquiring into the question of the payment of rents for bombed premises will present their report?

The Attorney-General (Sir Donald Somervell)

The existing legislation dealing with this matter is contained in the Landlord and Tenant (War Damage) Act. The Government are considering whether this Act requires amendment on the point raised in the question and also in the light of the War Damage Bill at present before Parliament. The matter is being considered by Ministers and their advisers, but I am unable to say when the Government will be in a position to announce their decisions. The importance of these questions is fully realised.
