HC Deb 17 December 1941 vol 376 c1918
10. Lieutenant Butcher

asked the Secretary of State for Air whether he will give an assurance that air warders who are physically fit and performing their duties in a satisfactory manner will not be replaced by Service police?

Sir A. Sinclair

For disciplinary reasons, it is preferable to employ Service police at stations manned by Service personnel. Civilian warders are accordingly being replaced as and when trained R.A.F. personnel become available. Those displaced have been offered employment in the same capacity at civilian-manned establishments.

Lieutenant Butcher

Would it be possible to arrange for the removal and re-establishment on a family basis of the men, in view of the fact that so many are ex-Service men?
