HC Deb 17 December 1941 vol 376 cc1930-1
37. Sir Herbert Williams

asked the Secretary of State for War whether his attention has been drawn to the fact that a board of officers was assembled on 19th August, 1941, to inquire into the requisitioning of chattels at a certain camp, of which he has been informed, by an Area Order, issue No. 116, dated 15th August; that this board assembled and adjourned to a later date; that, before the date to which it had been adjourned, the board of officers was dissolved by an Area Order, issue No. 185, dated 9th September; and whether, in view of these circumstances, he will take steps for the board of officers again to be assembled so that its inquiry may be completed?

Mr. Sandys

I am informed that the board to which my hon. Friend refers was assembled in order to supervise a marching-out inspection and was not in any way concerned with the requisitioning of chattels.

Sir H. Williams

Will my hon. Friend be kind enough to make further inquiry, because I am perfectly satisfied that the answer which he has given me is inaccurate? On this matter I have both written and asked a Question previously.

Mr. Sandys

Yes, my hon. Friend told my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for War that the recent answer he gave him also was inaccurate. We will continue to look into it if my hon. Friend wishes, but he will probably get the same answer again.

Sir H. Williams

As I know that the answer is inaccurate, I would ask my hon. Friend to look into the matter again.
