HC Deb 17 December 1941 vol 376 c1916
4. Mr. Mander

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether China is now, in the fullest sense, an Ally of this country, and will be invited to the next meeting of the Inter-Allied Conference at St. James's Palace?

Mr. Law

The Prime Minister has already made it clear that we welcome the Chinese as Allies in our common war against the Axis Powers. China will naturally play her part in inter-Allied consultations.

Mr. Mander

Is a meeting likely in the near future?

Mr. Law

I am afraid I cannot say.

Mr. Price

Is there to be a formal Alliance between the two countries?

Mr. Law

I am afraid I cannot give any information as to that. At present we are in practice and legally Allies.
