HC Deb 11 December 1941 vol 376 c1664
37. Mr. Wakefield

asked the President of the Board of Education whether he is satisfied with the method of calculating the number of children to be moved from one part of the country to another on account of war conditions and the adequacy of the arrangements for collaboration between his department and other Government Departments.

The President of the Board of Education (Mr. Butler)

As regards the first part of the Question, I would refer my hon. Friend to the answer which I gave him yesterday. Arrangements have been made with the other Government Departments concerned whereby my Department is furnished at the earliest possible stage with information bearing on the number of children for whom educational provision is likely to be needed as the result of movements of war workers, and this information is transmitted to the authority.

Mr. Wakefield

Is my hon. Friend aware that the figures for Wiltshire given by his Department in no way correspond with the figures of the Ministry of Works and Buildings? Does not this suggest lack of adequate co-operation between the Departments?

Mr. Butler

I am investigating this question at present.
