§ 70. Captain Anstruther-Grayasked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury how many young men of fighting age are at present studying at universities throughout the country, giving separate figures for England and Scotland; and whether he can give figures showing the professions for which they are studying?
§ Captain CrookshankI am circulating in the OFFICIAL REPORT a table showing the approximate numbers of students in attendance at universities and university colleges in the autumn of 1941. Information as to the precise age-distribution of these students is not available, but it is known that in arts subjects a substantial proportion of the students now in attendance are below military age.
§ Sir Percy HarrisIs it not a fact that these young men are doing their preliminary military training at the universities?
§ Captain CrookshankI should have to have notice of the Question. I am not really concerned in this matter.
