HC Deb 04 December 1941 vol 376 c1251
53. Mr. De la Bère

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether he will take steps to terminate the suspense which exists at present with regard to the call-up of the 10,000 key-men from the farms?

Mr. Hudson

This matter is receiving the active consideration of the Government, and a statement will be made as soon as possible.

Mr. De la Bère

Is not my right hon. Friend aware that this is a clear-cut issue and that it has been hanging about for months? Will the Government do something to decide this matter, which is important and without which Parliament cannot go on with the programme of growing more food for the national larder?
