HC Deb 02 December 1941 vol 376 cc986-7
16. Mrs. Hardie

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many local authorities in Scotland are making provision to supply meals at school for other than necessitous children?

The Secretary of State for Scotland (Mr. T. Johnston)

Thirty-one education authorities in Scotland supply solid meals in school, and the remaining four light meals, to children who are not necessitous.

Mrs. Hardie

Is the Minister satisfied with the progress being made in this direction, and is there good prospect of extending the services?

Mr. Johnston

A very considerable push is now going on, and I hope that considerable advances are being made.
