HC Deb 05 August 1941 vol 373 c1789
55. Sir P. Hurd

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury whether he will now indicate the general purport of the interim report of the Kennet Committee regarding the combing out of eligible men and women from the Departments for war service.

The Financial Secretary to the Treasury (Captain Crookshank)

The interim report of the Kennet Committee has now been received and will be published as a White Paper. The Government are giving its recommendations urgent consideration, but I can say now that they are in general agreement with its main principles. I should like to take this opportunity of expressing the thanks of His Majesty's Government to Lord Kennet, Mr. Addison and Mr. Bowen for their careful and rapid investigation of this problem.

Sir P. Hurd

May we know when this White Paper is to be issued?

Captain Crookshank

As soon as possible.
