HC Deb 03 April 1941 vol 370 cc1166-7
62. Dr. Little

asked the Minister of Supply, in view of the urgency of the matter and the pressing local demand, what steps the Government have taken towards the erection and equipment of munition factories in Northern Ireland, in view of its security hitherto and the available labour?

The Joint Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Supply (Mr. Harold Macmillan)

As already indicated in answer to a Question by my hon. Friend on 30th January, I do not think it advisable to make any public statement regarding steps taken to erect and equip munition factories.

Dr. Little

Will the hon. Gentleman push forward the erection of these factories in order to provide work at home for our Ulstermen instead of bringing them across to this country?
