HC Deb 03 April 1941 vol 370 c1291
Mr. Bellenger (Bassetlaw)

I beg to move, in page 3, line 17, at the end, to add: and as if at the end of paragraph (c) of the said Sub-section (which relates to accommodation and prices for billeting) there were added the following proviso:— Provided that in no case shall the price prescribed for tea be less than sixpence or the price prescribed for supper be less than sevenpence. The Committee may remember that on the introduction of the Estimates I raised the general question of the reform of billeting prices in general. I understand that if any reform is to be made, it can now be done by Army Council Regulations. I do not want to press the matter at this moment, but I want to give the Department an opportunity of deciding this; and then, if I get no satisfaction, I always have the right to raise it later, on a suitable occasion. I, therefore, beg to ask leave to withdraw the Amendment.

Amendment, by leave, withdrawn.

Clause ordered to stand part of the Bill.
