HC Deb 03 April 1941 vol 370 c1168
67. Mr. Thorne

asked the Postmaster General whether he can give any information in connection with the bomb planted in a bag of American mail in transit through London, which exploded in the tube railway under Mount Pleasant Post Office?

The Assistant Postmaster-General (Mr. Allan Chapman)

The bomb in question caused a small fire, quickly put out. The other parcels in the bag were only slightly damaged. I am glad to say that none of the staff, who acted with great promptitude, was injured. Inquiry into the matter is being pressed forward.
