HC Deb 24 October 1940 vol 365 c1117
1. Mr. R. J. Taylor

asked the Minister of Labour whether he will consider increasing the scales of remuneration for members of statutory committees in view of the rise in the cost of living and subsequent wage increases; and, further, is he aware of the loss in wages to men serving on those committees?

The Minister of Labour (Mr. Ernest Bevin)

In general no remuneration is payable to members of these committees. The amount of compensation for loss of earnings owing to attendance, which may be claimed in certain cases, was increased from 1st September to a maximum of 17s. 6d. from a previous maximum of 14s.
