HC Deb 22 October 1940 vol 365 c937
48. Mr. Price (for Mr. Mander)

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs the nature and extent of political support among well-known free Frenchmen enjoyed by General de Gaulle; and whether it is proposed to form representative councils?

The Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs (Mr. Butler)

General de Gaulle is winning an increasing measure of support from prominent Frenchmen all over the world. Every effort is being made to ensure that the French National Committees overseas are fully representative of all free Frenchmen in the countries where they are established.
