HC Deb 17 October 1940 vol 365 c816
6. Mr. Beechman

asked the Minister of Labour how far he has been able to arrange short rest periods in reception areas for industrial workers; and whether he will consider the possibility of such a scheme operating after the war?

Mr. Bevin

It has not been found practicable so far to make arrangements for workers engaged on war work in areas affected by air raids to take short rest periods away from those areas, but I am having the matter further examined. Any arrangements it may prove possible to make would necessarily be related to war conditions, and how far, if at all, such arrangements could be adapted to conditions after the war would clearly have to be left for subsequent consideration.
