HC Deb 17 October 1940 vol 365 cc824-5
80. Mr. T. Smith

asked the Minister of Food whether he will consider the desirability of making arrangements to supply old age pensioners with one pint of milk daily, either free or at a reduced price?

Major Sir James Edmondson (Vice-Chamberlain of the Household)

I have been asked to reply. I presume that my hon. Friend has in mind the possibility of extending the National Milk Scheme to old age pensioners. I would refer him to the answer given on 8th August to my hon. Friends the Members for Camlachie (Mr. Stephen) and Earl Stirling (Mr. Woodburn).

Mr. Smith

I hope the hon. and gallant Gentleman will appreciate that some old age pensioners have difficulty in purchasing milk even with their supplementary pensions?
