The duties of the Chief of the Operations Staff, Civil Defence, are to advise generally on matters within the sphere of Civil Defence, to represent the Department when necessary at meetings with the Chiefs of Staff, and to supervise the collection, appreciation and dissemination of intelligence relating to Civil Defence. His salary is £2,500 per annum, less the amount of his Army retired pay.
