HC Deb 08 October 1940 vol 365 c254
63. Mr. Mander

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he is now in a position to state the intentions of the Government with regard to the War Savings (Determination of Needs) Bill; and whether he is aware of the urgent necessity of redeeming the pledge given to the House and the country on this subject?

Sir K. Wood

While I fully appreciate the desirability of making progress with this matter, I am not in a position to make any statement at the moment.

Mr. Mander

Are any consultations going on at the present time?

Sir K. Wood

I am considering the various views which have been expressed.

Mr. Mander

Will the right hon. Gentleman see that Members of the Liberal party are included in the consultation?

Sir K. Wood

I will bear my hon. Friend's suggestion in mind.
