HC Deb 08 October 1940 vol 365 c232
26. Mr. Rhys Davies

asked the Minister of Labour whether he is now in a position to make a statement on the progress made to set up negotiating machinery on industrial problems between employers and employed in the distributive trades?

The Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Labour (Mr. Assheton)

My right hon. Friend has had a number of meetings with representatives of both employers and workers in the retail distributive trades and negotiations are still in progress. He is at present awaiting the decision of the employers' organisations on certain proposals which have been discussed with the joint committee of the two sides.

Mr. Davies

Can these proceedings be printed and published for Members of Parliament?

Mr. Assheton

I should like to have notice of that question.
