HC Deb 20 November 1940 vol 365 cc1958-9
11. Mr. Wedgwood

asked the Secretary of State for Air, whether, in view of the recent prosecution, he will inquire whether any other of the 9,000 known members of the British Union of Fascists are at present being employed by the Air Ministry in London or elsewhere?

The Under-Secretary of State for Air (Captain Harold Balfour)

I am advised that an inquiry such as the right hon. Gentleman suggests, which would involve a great deal of time and labour, is unnecessary for the purpose he has in view. I need hardly add that I have every reason to acknowledge the loyalty and devotion to duty of the staff of the Air Ministry as a whole.

Mr. Wedgwood

Was not a man connected with the Air Ministry arrested the other day?
