HC Deb 19 November 1940 vol 365 c1829
52. Mr. Doland

asked the Prime Minister, whether he will review the inadequate amount of pension granted to the recipients of the Victoria Cross who are, or might become, necessitous; and whether the question of a special and additional pension will be granted to the recipients of the George Cross under like circumstances?

The Prime Minister

Provision already exists whereby the normal pensions of £10 and £5 awarded to recipients of the Victoria Cross and Bar respectively may, in cases of need, be increased to £75 in all. It is not considered that pensions on this scale are inadequate for the purpose for which they were intended. The position in regard to the George Cross will be examined.
