asked the Secretary of State for War the composition of the Auxiliary Territorial Service Council.

The Auxiliary Territorial Service Council is composed as follows:

§ The Director, Dame Helen GwynneVaughan—President.

§ Chief Commandant M. Baxter-Ellis.

§ Senior Commandant M. S. Frood.

§ Dr. J. L. D. Fairfield.

May I ask my hon. Friend whether proper and adequate staff will be available for the personnel of the Council, in order that the directional policy of the A.T.S. may be properly carried out; and may those appointed to serve on the Council have the right to appoint their individual chief officers?
