HC Deb 05 November 1940 vol 365 c1195
69. Lieut.-Colonel Sir Assheton Pownall

asked the Home Secretary what is the position of auxiliary firemen who are injured in the course of fighting fires?

Mr. Mabane

Auxiliary firemen who sustain physical injuries arising out of and in the course of their duties, and are thereby incapacitated for duty, are eligible to receive injury allowances, and, in the case of serious and prolonged disablement, pensions under the Personal Injuries (Civilians) Scheme. The position of auxiliary firemen and of members of the other Civil Defence services injured on duty is under active consideration, and it is hoped to issue a general statement on the subject at an early date.
