HC Deb 28 May 1940 vol 361 cc401-2
30. Mr. Glenvil Hall

asked the Secretary of State for War what action it is proposed to take in the case of time-expired Reservists and Territorials who in a few months will have completed the additional 12 months they can at present be asked to serve while a state of war exists with a foreign Power?

Mr. Law

Under the Military and Air Forces (Prolongation of Service) Act, 1939, the term of service of such men is deemed not to expire until the end of the emergency.

Mr. Hall

Will the Minister take steps to let the men in the Forces know this, as there is a great deal of misunderstanding on the point?

Mr. Law

I will certainly see that steps are taken.
