HC Deb 28 May 1940 vol 361 c417
56. Sir J. Smedley Crooke

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury whether he will take steps to see that conscientious objectors do not benefit financially by reason of their conscience, but that on whatever work the Tribunals put them to, they shall only receive the same pay and allowances as those who are serving in His Majesty's Forces?

The Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Labour (Mr. Assheton)

I have been asked to reply. I would refer my hon. Friend to the reply given to questions by the hon. Members for Stretford (Mr. R. Etherton) and Walton (Mr. Purbrick) on 4th April, of which I am sending him a copy.
