HC Deb 28 May 1940 vol 361 cc398-9
Mr. Burke

asked the Secretary of State for War what is the amount of the rations in bread, butter, and meat issued to members of His Majesty's forces in Egypt?

Mr. Law

The present daily ration scale in Egypt includes 16 ounces of bread, 14 ounces of meat and one ounce of margarine. Butter may, when practicable, be issued instead of margarine.

Mr. Burke

Will the Minister make inquiries and satisfy himself that these standards are normally being issued to the troops in Egypt?

Mr. Law

Yes, Sir.
