asked the President of the Board of Education what proposals he has received from the Westmorland County Education Committee relating to the employment of schoolchildren in agriculture; and what is his attitude towards these proposals?

The President of the Board of Education (Mr. Ramsbotham)

The Westmorland local education authority have not submitted any proposals relating to this matter.

Mr. Davies

Is the hon. Gentleman aware that at the last meeting of this education authority, it was suggested that children of all ages attending school should be allowed to work in agriculture?

Mr. Ramsbotham

The hon. Member asked me what proposals had been received from this education committee and I have told him that I have not had any proposals.
