asked the Minister of Labour whether his Department has given consideration to the recommendations of the Royal Commission on the Geographical Distribution of Industries, in particular, those regarding the future activities of the Commissioner for Special Areas; and whether he will make a statement on the matter?

Mr. E. Brown

I would refer the hon. Member to the answer given by my right hon. Friend the Prime Minister on 29th February.

Mr. Griffiths

Will the right hon. Gentleman bear in mind that an authoritative statement ought to be made as soon as possible?

Mr. Brown

The hon. Member will see that this does not lie with me, and that I am responsible for only a section of this very vast problem.
