80. Mr. Lambert

asked the Minister of Transport whether he will ascertain the number of truckloads and the weight of whole rolls and loaves of bread that have been consigned from Nine Elms Station, Southern Railway, to Devonshire, for pig and poultry food during the last two months?

The Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Transport (Mr. Bernays)

I am informed that since 1st January last a total weight of 11 tons 7 cwts. of what is described as "Bakery sweepings (cattle food)" have been consigned in six truck-loads from Nine Elms Station to Copplestone Station, Devonshire. The material is packed in bags, and the railway company have no detailed information as to the contents.

Mr. Lambert

Do I understand my hon. Friend to say that the material that was sent to Copplestone Station, North Devon, was bad?

Mr. Bernays

No, Sir. I said it was packed in bags.
