HC Deb 18 March 1940 vol 358 c1624
26. Mr. Parker

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether he is aware that many farmers and smallholders are being placed in difficulties by being asked to pay cash for fertilisers for which they normally pay after harvest, that the strain of two payments out of the proceeds of one harvest is interfering with the purchase of seeds; and whether he can take any action in the matter?

Sir R. Dorman-Smith

I am aware that the difficulties referred to by the hon. Member are being experienced in certain cases. Where they occur it is possible for farmers to obtain assistance from their county war agricultural executive committees under the Agricultural Requisites Assistance Scheme.
