HC Deb 13 March 1940 vol 358 c1175
26 . Mr. Mort

asked the Secretary of State for Air whether he has considered representations made to him by the county borough of Swansea on the proposal to suspend the air services link between Bristol, Cardiff, Swansea and Barnstaple; is he aware that, for reasons connected with the war, the steamer service from Swansea across the channel to Devon will be discontinued this summer, thus giving an added reason for the continuance of the air service for the benefit of business men and the holiday amenities of the Devonshire coast; and what steps he proposes to take to remedy this situation?

Sir K. Wood

The air line to which the hon. Member refers is one of several others affected by a decision dictated by Royal Air Force needs on which I am to hear representations on Friday next from the operating companies concerned. The hon. Member will not expect me therefore to say anything further on this individual case.
