HC Deb 12 March 1940 vol 358 c1005
56. Mr. Tomlinson

asked the President of the Board of Trade for what quantities of Japanese khaki and navy shirts import licences have been granted to some London importers who are promising delivery in May?

Sir A. Duncan

No licences are being granted for the importation of shirts of woven material from any foreign country except France. As regards knitted shirts, no licence has yet been issued under the agreement between British and Japanese hosiery manufacturers to which I referred in my reply to the hon. Member for Jarrow (Miss Wilkinson) on 27th February.
