HC Deb 07 March 1940 vol 358 c561
54. Mr. Mathers

asked the Home Secretary why Scottish evening news papers were denied the opportunity of reporting and commenting upon the recent Royal visit to different centres until the following day's morning newspapers had dealt with the various events; and whether he will make certain this discrimination will not be made on future similar occasions?

Sir J. Anderson

In present circumstances information about a Royal visit is not released for publication until after Their Majesties have left the place visited, and it so happened that the visits to which the hon. Member refers did not come to an end in time to permit publication in the evening papers of the same day.
