HC Deb 04 March 1940 vol 358 c20
43. Sir J. Lucas

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Education whether he will endeavour to obtain an extension of instruction in the schools on Britain's work for Colonial development and on her future responsibilities, in view of the proposed financial aid to be granted and as an appreciation of the way in which the Empire rallies to the aid of the Mother Country in time of trouble?

Mr. Lindsay

In consultation with my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for the Colonies, we are considering how the teaching in the schools may be made more alive and imaginative on this question and may contribute to a fuller understanding of the Empire, its opportunities and its problems.
