31. Captain Shawasked the Home Secretary whether a charge has now been framed against the hon. and gallant 592 Member for Midlothian and Peebles (Captain Ramsay); whether the appeal to the Advisory Committee has been heard; and, if so, what was the result of the appeal?
§ Sir J. AndersonAs I have previously explained, there is no question of framing a charge against a person in connection with his detention by an order under Defence Regulation 18B, but an obligation rests on the Chairman of the Advisory Committee to furnish such a person with information to enable him to put his case before the Committee. This information has been furnished to the hon. and gallant Member, and I understand that the Advisory Committee have arranged to hear his case next week.
§ Mr. MaxtonAre people in this position allowed the normal services of a legal adviser?
§ Sir J. AndersonTo the best of my belief, yes, but the matter is within the discretion of the Advisory Committee.
