HC Deb 12 June 1940 vol 361 c1264
40. Mr. Lyons

asked the Minister of Supply whether a decision has yet been reached on the compulsory appointment of salvage officers for each local authority area?

Mr. H. Morrison

The question as to what compulsory steps should be taken, such as that suggested by my hon. and learned Friend, is under close consideration in consultation with the committee which I appointed recently. I am also conferring on the subject with my right hon. Friend the Minister of Health.

Mr. Lyons

In view of the difficulty which is experienced by householders all over the country to dispose of their own salvage in the national interest, can the Minister tell me whether next week he will be able to give a definite answer or not.

Mr. Morrison

I cannot say, Sir. The matter is actively under consideration.
