asked the Minister of Supply the names of the scientists in charge of each subject in the scientific research branch of his Department, together with their qualifications?

Mr. H. Morrison

I am afraid that I could not give.the desired information without giving an indication of the lines of the war-time research programme. My hon. Friend will not expect me to do this.

Mr. Stokes

Will the Minister at least assure the House that these positions are held by people of first-class scientific ability and not occupied by second-raters?

Mr. Morrison

As far as I know, that is so, but I think that the hon. Member and the House will agree that it would be most unwise to give this list.
