§ 60. Mr. Gordon Macdonaldasked the Home Secretary whether he can now state the decision of the Government regarding the amendment of the law relating to workmen's compensation?
§ Mr. MacdonaldIn view of the distress which is being caused to workmen by this long delay, will the hon. Gentleman give an assurance that a statement will be made at the earliest opportunity?
§ Mr. PeakeI am aware of the desirability of a statement being made at the earliest moment; but the hon. Member will be aware that there was some tension in the House when the Bill received its Second Reading, under the previous Government. I think that we had better have a word about it in private.
