HC Deb 25 July 1940 vol 363 c959
23. Mr. Simmonds

asked the Home Secretary whether he is aware that certain persons have inaugurated local funds to provide mobile canteens for the feeding of the civil population during and after air-raids; and whether he will discourage these activities?

Sir J. Anderson

I understand that my hon. Friend is referring to the provision of facilities in the borough of Wands-worth. I am informed that one mobile canteen has been provided for Civil Defence volunteers and that an appeal has been made for funds for another. I am not aware of any grounds on which it would be desirable to discourage these public-spirited activities.
