47. Mr. Davidsonasked the Prime Minister what arrangement has he made to ensure facilities of immediate consultation between himself and the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs?
§ The Prime MinisterSir, I have asked Ministers whose duties are intimately connected with the conduct of the war to arrange as soon as possible to sleep in their offices at the centre of Government. The reasons for this are sufficiently obvious. I regret to cause the Ministers concerned inconvenience. They certainly should not be obliged to incur expense. Full regard will be paid to economy in all the arrangements made, and the details will be subject to examination by the Public Accounts Committee in due course.
Mr. DavidsonDoes not the right hon. Gentleman think it advisable, in view of the necessity for immediate consultation with the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, that that gentleman should be established in No. 11?
§ The Prime MinisterI am very much obliged to the hon. Gentleman for the kindly and agreeable attention which he gives to our affairs. I can assure him that any suggestion that falls from him will receive attention.
