HC Deb 04 July 1940 vol 362 c1002
50. Sir George Mitcheson

asked the Prime Minister whether he proposes from time to time to make a statement in general terms, so far as it may be possible without prejudice to the public interest, as to the action taken as a result of the recommendations of the Select Committee on National Expenditure?

Mr. Attlee

I have no doubt that the Ministers whose Departments are the subject of recommendations from the Select Committee will give the House information, so far as the public interest permits, on the action taken on those recommendations. I see no advantage in more general statements made from time to time.
