HC Deb 03 July 1940 vol 362 c816
9. Mr. Ammon

asked the Secretary of State for Air whether he can now make a statement as to the Distinguished Flying Cross being awarded for bravery without class distinction, as with the Victoria Cross?

Captain Balfour

No, Sir.

Mr. Ammon

Is the hon. and gallant Member aware that in March last I was told by the present Chancellor of the Exchequer that this matter had been submitted to the Coordination Committee, and may I press the hon. and gallant Member to urge his right hon. Friend to give this matter further consideration?

Captain Balfour

As the hon. Member will appreciate, the Air staffs, who will have primarily to consider this matter, have been very hard pressed with matters of greater urgency. Nevertheless, my right hon. Friend received the papers either yesterday or the day before and will give the matter his personal consideration.
