HC Deb 02 July 1940 vol 362 c654
26. Mr. Salt

asked the Secretary for Mines whether he is now in a position to make a statement regarding the work of valuation of mining royalties under the Act of 1938?

The Secretary for Mines (Mr. David Grenfell)

This matter has been carefully considered in the light of the new war situation, and the Government are satisfied that it is in the national interest that the work of valuation should proceed as rapidly as possible, subject, however, to the overriding condition that it is not allowed to interfere with necessary coal production.
