HC Deb 25 January 1940 vol 356 cc761-2
30. Sir Adrian Baillie

asked the Minister of Health whether he can now make any further statement as to the possibilities: of resuming civil building by local authorities, especially in those towns where the need for accommodation is the greatest?

31. Mr. Rhys Davies

asked the Minister of Health whether, in view of the heavy unemployment in the building trades, he will consider a change in house-building policy?

Mr. Elliot

I am sending the hon. Member a copy of a Reply which I gave on 18th January to questions on the subject. He will see from that Reply that I am prepared to give sympathetic consideration to proposals for the provision of a certain number of houses urgently required, in particular houses for the accommodation of workers in the factory and on the land.
